Privacy Policy Statement

This is the web site of The Zeitgeist Movement.

We do not require that you provide us ANY personally identifiable information.  An email address is required to register for some areas of the site, but we welcome the use of anonymous email accounts, and we do not provide the email addresses to any other party.  Please note, you are under no obligation to provide us any personally identifiable information.  At any time, you may delete your account by selecting the option under the User menu.

We collect the domain name and e-mail address of visitors to our Web page, when they register, the e-mail addresses of those who post messages to our bulletin board, the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail, the e-mail addresses of those who make postings to our chat areas, aggregate information on what pages visitors access or visit, information volunteered by the visitor, such as survey information and/or site registrations.  None of this information requires that the user be personally identified.

The information we collect is used to improve the content of our Web page, used to customize the content and/or layout of our page for each individual visitor (such as the language you choose), used to notify visitors about updates to our Web site (such as when you receive a message of a new posting in the forum).  It must be disclosed when legally required to do so, at the request of governmental authorities conducting an investigation, to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our Website and applicable laws or to protect against misuse or unauthorized use of our Website.

With respect to cookies: We use cookies to store visitors' preferences, record user-specific information on what pages users access or visit, alert visitors to new areas that we think might be of interest to them when they return to our site, record past activity at a site in order to provide better service when visitors return to our site , customize Web page content based on visitors' browser type or other information that the visitor sends.

If you do not want to receive e-mail from us in the future, please let us know by  Deleting your account (under the user menu).

From time to time, we may use visitor information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our Web site periodically. Such new uses would not conflict with any provisions listed here.

Visitors may prevent their information from being used for purposes other than those for which it was originally collected by Deleting their user account.

We offer visitors the ability to have inaccuracies corrected in contact information, using the self service options under the "User" menu.

With respect to security: We have appropriate security measures in place in the physical facilities of the web hosting provider(s) to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our site.

We use Google Analytics to collect aggregate information about visitors to the site.  Examples are to help optimize bandwidth by analyzing file sizes, to determine language patterns, and to find missing pages and similar problems.  Google's policy is available at google.com.  No personally identifiable information is provided by us to Google, or by Google to us.
